Who made a 03 Tracker OB, Force or Mercury?

I just posted the following note in the Mercury forum and then via Google stumbled on a for sale claiming his 98 Tracker engine manual shows it was made by Force?!? I am confused but read the iboats Force history ending that ... The changing marketplace, diminished price advantages and pending government regulations resulted in the decision to discontinue the Force brand in 1999. Parts and service have become more and more difficult for Force owners to find since then.

So would an 03 Tracker indeed have the Mercury and not Force base? Sorry to bug 2 forums but I am trying to find any info I can on an "off brand" OB. Here is what I posted on the Mercury forum earlier:

I am considering buying a used 03 Fisher 16' Proavenger aluminum walkthrough fishing board from a dealer in Wisconsin. It has an 03 Tracker by Mercury Marine 50hp outboard on it. What I seem to find on the internet is this is a standard Mercury (whatever that means) sold for Tracker boats ... not sure why such a new boat has a motor change on it but the dealer would give a 30 day warranty on it.

I have used plenty of family boards and resort fishing boats (with 10 hp OBs) and am fairly mechanicly adept but have never owned a boat. Does anyone on this forum have comments on this motor? I have heard certain models of motors with -xxx suffixes are known lemons so I am looking for any opinions. Again, just looking for a basic fishing boat for me and sometimes wife or grown kids to use in "pre retirement". Thanks, Dave in Minnesota

It is not a force. 1999 was the last year that force produced motors.
