I don't know if I'm posting in the right place, but here's my problem.

I have a 16' aluminum boat that was outfitted by the previous owner with a gas tank in the front of the boat (under the hull).

Without lengthy explaination, the Gas Fill Cap chain got broke and ended up left off, then run over by a car and damaged!

I need a replacement, but am not having any luck, this seems to be an odd-ball size.

Here's a picture. http://www.structuredwiresystems.com/docs/FILLCAP.jpghttp://www.structuredwiresystems.com/docs/FILLCAP.jpg

Any ideas on where I might find a cap?

I bought what appeared to be the right cap from the local marina, but the one I purchased measured 1 5/8" on the outside of the threads, appearantly for a 1 1/2" opening.

The replacement I will need will measure 1 3/8" on the outside of the threads.

Re: Gas Fill Cap

Looks like one they sell in the mega mall by Sea Dog. Says they sell just the cap.

You could try checking with the Sea Dog website to see if they have more detail on the parts dimensions. Or give them a call. If it is the same, just order one from the mega mall.

Or just order whole new filler neck and cap and it will come wth the chain you need to prevent this from happening again! .

DG, The replacement caps are likely close in price to a replacement fitting. You can pick up a plastic one for cheep.
