MerCruiser 165 - 6cyl. VS 4 cyl.

Greetings all. I have an inline 6 cyl MerCruiser 165. Lately, while looking to repower, I find a 4 cyl. MerCruiser 165. I'm confused, will that bolt up the same as the 6? Would the 4 cyl have any advantage?

No, while it looks similar, everything changes. Including the gear ratio in the drive, exhaust tube, inner transom plate, coupler, the cross member for the front motor mount would have to be moved aft (the 4 cyl is shorter than the 6).
