I have a 1973 Correct Craft Ski Nautique with the 225HP OMC inboard. It has the 4V carb as well, all original. It runs and revs in nuetral just fine, but konks out (dies) if you try to go forward or reverse in gear in the water. On the trailer it will spin the prop just fine. I've adjusted the idle and so on to no benefit. Most of the ignition system is new components. Where do I start? The OMC manual directs me to carburation, but I'm confused because it seems to run great when not under any load.

it doesn't take as much gas to run one with out a load. replace all your filters, water fuel seperator ect. Don't know if yours has a screen at the fuel intake at the carb or not, but pull the fuel line and look. check fuel pump pressue to see if it is withing specs.
