have a 1982 merc 260 5.7 350
the merc manual says the carb on on that thing should be a rochester qjet manu# 17057298... when i ordered my reman carb last year i requested that manu#..
i just checked out the reman and it is manu# 7027157.. found that # on a site and looks like its for a 1968 oldsmobile 400/425 engine..
is there a major reason why i cant/shouldnt use that carb on my merc 260? i dont know enough about carbs or the rochester manu#s to understand the functional difference between the two.. or with these remans does it not really matter as they just update an older model body?
really just looking to try to understand all this a bit better.. so thanks for your insight/thoughts
