measure from the transom mount to the anti plate just above the prop. flywheel: you will need a harmonic balancer pulley(do'not use the 1/4' bolt that comes with it) get 1/4x20 #8 strength bolts , the original bolt wiil strip out. position the center bolt over the crankshaft, install the 1/4 bolts so the are completely thru but not far enough to da,age anything under the fly wheel. thighten the center bolt prteey tight. a couple of raps on the center bolt and tighten agaim repeat, repeat. and all of a sudden POP. be sure when you replace it to use a new woodruff key and my manual say the torque should be 480-540 inch pounds not foot pounds. if you don't torque youwill shaer the woodruff key.

The old 15/18s are easy to see if they're long or short. The re will be a 5-inch long (exactly 5-inches) extension inserted between the top of the gearcase and the exhaust housing. No extension, no long shaft...

could not reply to the email as it was sent thru ebay. it's 18" long shaft. i have a 55' 15 hp rude i bought of ebay. all i had to do was mount it. yes the bottom of the foot has been changed, but that is not uncommon for the vintage.

it's a " harmonic balancer puller" auto parts store, walmart, that is a fantastic engine, very hard to kill. when setup right as mine it will idle all day without a cough or sneeze, and then run like a scared cat. i have mine on a 14' v hull aluminum, with stick steering and controls at the middle seat. use Joe Reeves carb settings when you get to that point. if youcan't find them email me.
