1986 Yamaha 150hp Oil ooze problem

We have a 20 year old Yamaha on our Whaler. It has been working well, but last time out, it started oozing oil down the side of the motor. When I took the top off the motor, I could see that the oil resevoir top had popped. I put in back down in place, and things were fine for about 15 minutes, but then it happened again. Is this a symptom of a bigger problem, or can I just hold it in place with zip ties or even duct tape? Thanks

Sounds like the vent hose is blocked as well as the boat mounted tank's pump is not shutting off. The common causes are a tank sensor or shorted control module.
