I have a 2070 bayliner and the power trim is all the way up and hums when you hit the up bottom but there is no sound when hitting the down button and the engine does not go down. Any ideas what the problem could be?

This is the Website/Forum Issues section, and has nothing to do with outboards. Just look at the top posts in this forum for some HINTS on where to post.

Does owning an outboard cause reading problems?

Bad relay

Swap the 2 relays around, there is one for the "up" circuit, and one for the "down" circuit.

After swapping the relays, try it. If the relay is bad, now the engine should go down, but not up.

If this is the case, buy a new relay.

If this is NOT the case, you have a wiring problem, either a broken or disconnected wire, or a bad switch.
