Trying to get this old motor to run, but no luck so far. I've got spark, but motor won't fire. Took carb apart and cleaned/soaked with cleaner. She's got about 80# compression on each cylinder.

How many turns should I back the slow speed rich/lean needle out of its fully seated position?

What plugs does it take, and what is the gap?

Is 80# compression enough to run?

Thanks

Re: 1970+/- 6hp Evinrude carb adjustment

my manual shows the 6hp between '65-'68 new plugs J4C gapped a .030, turn out 1 1/2 to start. go to the enigne Faq forum, and read Joe Reeves post on setting the carbs. used it on my '55 15 hp rude, the best thing i ever did for that motor.
