Me again with my 4.3 repower project / headache...:'(

Replaced a 4.3 engine and am in the process of breaking it in. My old engine 1992/1993 used an electric fuel pump (which I am using on the new motor too). The old one had the hole / cavity on the bottom corner for a mechanical, but it didnt have the bolt holes to accept a mechanical pump.

My new engine will accept the mechanical pump even though Im not using one (it has two bolt holes). I neglected to put a cover over the cavity because I though I wouldnt need it...When the engine was running, I noticed some oil splashing out while I was examining the engine for leaks.

1. Can I get a cover to seal this up?
2. Did I screw anything up? ( only lost a couple ounces of oil so I hope not)
3. I assume the mechanical pump runs off of the camshaft...does the cover have rod or something to plug that entry point into the motor?

Thanks for any help / advice...

Just a plate and a gasket. Timing chain was slingin the oil. No harm, just a little messy. Make a plate or buy one, just need to cover the hole.

Did you try "Searching" at your local NAPA or other auto parts store?

There is also a bolt hole that will leak oil if it's not pluged. Although this is not a pic of a marine engine or a v6 the bolt hole is still in the same place. If you don't have a bolt in this hole install one here with thread sealer on it or it will leak oil.
