Default 150 h.p. Mariner wrong stator?

I have a Mariner Magnum 150 h.p. V-6, Ser No.0b143244. Lost fire on 2-4-6 cly. Put new CDI stator 174-5456-16 on.Runs good to 2000 RPM then misfires on 2-4-6.Will not run over 2000 RPM.Put 2 new switch boxes on. Did not help. Disconnected yellow wires from stator. Did not help.Switched red-red white and blue-blue white wires from stator to switch boxes. Misfire went to 1-3-5.Sent stator to CDI, they said it tested good. My old stator was 398-5454-36 5/8 inch lam. and the new one is 1/2 inch lam. Could this be the problem or what could it be? Thanks.

i would asume if you can move the problem then you found the problem. i agree, stator.

i dont know if its posible, but can you measure the voltage on the two sets of blue/red wires while the engines sort of running/cranking?

I bought a DVA adapter for my cheap Sears digital meter. When I tested stator voltage with it the digital numbers were flashing so fast I could not get a good voltage test. Do I need a better meter or what am I doing wrong?

I called Clark at 256-772-3829 and he was very helpful. He said it sounds like the stator is bad. Going to get new stator since this one is still under warranty. Thanks for your help.
