Rock River near Rockford IL

I currently live in WI in Stevens Point right on the Wisconsin River. I'm moving to IL in about a month and will be living on the Rock River just south of Rockford.

Does anybody know anything about how the fishing in this area is?

My brother-in-law fishes the Rock quite a bit, mostly in the springtime.
He fishes Between Jefferson and Janesville, for walleyes. He does quite well.

Don't know what the fishing is like down across the border.
But I imagine the boat traffic gets pretty bad as the river gets bigger/wider.
