Loose flywheel due to insufficient torque on nut or partially sheared key. Upper bearing going bad. Loose stator.

esoles, If the motor has a distributor, the pulley cover bolt can get loose and rattle. Use some locktite.

If the flywheel flex plate is cracked it'll make a sound like a bad bearing.

The flex plate can be inspected by unbolting from the center hub, just don't lose the orientation of the plate to the hub. Make some match marks or some other way of determining how it sits.

Reassemble with red Loctite on the bolts and torque to specs.

Assunming the flywheel is good (inspect it) odds are it's the upper bearing. Make sure you have oil flow up that little hose that goes from bottom to top. If you insure that and it is the bearing making noise, it won;t get worse. Replacing that bearing is a complete teardown.
