Hello,

I just replaced my alternator on my 84 Doral Citation. The battery charges well, but the enine doesn't off when I t:'(ry to shut it off. Looking at some books it seems that the plug is different from the marine alternator to the auto alternator. Any idea's what I could do??????
Thanks,

John

To start with remove the automotive alternator and replace it with a marine alternator. Automotive electrical parts are not designed to contain any sparks. Sparks produced in an enclosed compartment where there is a possibility of gas fumes = KABOOM! ! ! !

[color=lt blue]Replace the alternator with a marine alternator to fit you application.

Re: alternator problems

alwaysintrouble, if you don't listen to Reel Poor, you're problems will be all over, and anyone on your boat, anyone on the dock or around you. A few pennies saved on the automotive alternator will cost you yours and your families lives. If someone told you it's ok to put automotive parts on your boat, go kick their A$$, as hard as you can. Don't stop until your boot is buried and you fall on your a$$ because you can't get your foot on the ground. If you are the one that came up with that idea, have your other half kick you.
Get the message, car parts on a boat aren't cool!
