8) Friday’s (6/30) 44hr Middle Grounds trip left the dock and hour early since everyone had gotten there hours ahead of time. Capt. Carl reported that the first stop produced a steady pick of Mangos and a nice 34lb King caught by 1st time Middle Grounds visitor, Joel Ventus. Joel was quick to add that he’ll be back again!

The 10 anglers, aboard the 65’ Gulf Star, fished a wreck for the sun up bite, but after a couple of big fish busted off they became shy. They worked some areas along the Grounds for some good quality keeper Red Grouper and Gags. After sun down they picked away at big Mangos, big Vermillion, some Scamps and Jacks.

With many people catching their Snapper limits and an ugly weather forecast, Capt. Carl headed for home. They did a little trolling on the way and caught two 8lb Spanish Mackerel.

Robert Burns of Lady Lake, FL won the Grouper pool with a 15 pounder. Dean Nason of Clearwater, FL won with a 7.5lb snapper and Stanly Tinter of Marco Island took the AJ pool with a 23 pounder. Another great trip!

The 44hr trips are strictly limited to 15 passengers! We are looking forward to a great summer season in Tarpon Springs, FL.
