I screwed up and let my boat sit over winter-now I have a cracked block.Ihavce found several companies online that do rebuilts but am unsure if they are trustworthy.Does anyone have a good engine source.Im not looking to spend a ton as the boat is a 1978 reinell 17 foot.I just cant throw it away as I put new floors and an interior into it 2 years ago.The motor in the boat is a 140 omc 3.0 liter. thanks

if anyone wants to email a response:devonjd@netzero.com

Just replaced mine, probrobly same as yours, still breaking it in
I went new with mine, I searched for months ands found a lot of reman and rebuilts were more than a new one.
all my parts from my old engine fit except I had to buy a new flywheel and coupler because the replacement motors come with a 14" flywheel now, then because it was new I put in a new manifold and riser the old ones had rust falling out.
try searching (ask.com) for a (4cyl mercruiser 140hp 181ci) and see what you come up with. oh yeah I also replaced the watershutter while the engine was out.

Try Jasper engines. I had one put in my boat 3 years ago and it cheap 1695.00 and the customer service was great.

dev...where are you located..? If you're by me, I can recommend a local shop that does that (very reasonable and solid customer service).

Ditto, Jasper. They have been around for years and have a great reputation.
