I have a 89 150hp force that was stored 9 years. when brace holding up motor was removed motor lowered on it's own. I was told tilt cylinder needed resealed but the trim cylinder also is going down. can both cylinders be bad or what else can I try. I already tried cycling motor up and down hoping that would help. My manual is not real clear on how to check fluid level in the reservoir. Should I just take out fill plug and check fluid and add oil with motor up or down? Also if I check for air in system do I just take out plug and cycle up and down or will I lose oil like that?

Re: motor lowering on own

You need to put the motor in the full up position to check or add oil to the system. If it will go up raise the motor and prop it up then you can check or add fluid to it. I am sure that sitting around that long all the seals would need replaced. in both tilt and trim. Good luck.
