I'm having troubles wiring up my ignition on a 1989 125hp Force. What wires are absolutely essetial for wiring the key ignition to the motor to have it start and run well? Will just the starter wire, hot wire, and ground keep the engine runnning well or do I "have" to have the temp. wire, and both magneto wires hooked up as well? I'm trying to convert a 1975 Mercury control box to work with the engine. I have figured out the choke, tach., and starter wires; is this enough to have hooked up?

Re: Ignition wiring help!

The only wire you need hooked up to the ignition to start the engine is the starter wire. The magneto wires are used for shutting down the engine. You may want to hook them up unless you want to pull the fuel line everytime you want to shut down.
