I am the sad owner of a used 89 merc 70 hp 3 cylinder motor. When I bought the motor, they replaced the flywheel saying it was bad. The boat ran for 1 hour and stalled. I was told the stator was bad. I replaced the stator myself and the boat started right up. The engine idles fine and will rev to 5,000 rpm in neutral but when driving boat it will not go past 2,800 rpm now???? Anyone please help.
