If the distributer is in the front you have a 302 Ford.....
You must look on it to identify what brand of dist. it is, >IE Mallory, autolite, etc.....
Post the engine's serial #.....
There are those here who are mmuch more familiar with OMC, so stick around.....
Welcome to iboats, BTW:).....JK
Napa should carry some marine stuff for your engine......

Re: Hard time figuring out my engine

You have a BOAT, not an AUTO. So my suggestion would be to ask for BOAT parts until you are certain what the difference is. Many automotive parts can not be used on a boat. Mainly because they are unsafe due to explosion and fire hazzard. Fuel pumps, carbs, distributors, solenoids, relays, ets. just to name a few.
And get an OEM service manual for your engine/drive. Not the aftermarket manuals.
If you have a complete model number, perhaps someone can help ID your engine.
Like JK mentioned, Some auto parts stores carry the Sierra brand marine parts. Just make sure they are marine until you understand the difference.

Napa sells Sierra parts and should be able to supply your ignition system needs. But like JK said you will first have to identify the distributor brand.
