hey guys my brother is offing to let me use his older boat for the year or 2 ,lol. it is a 18 foot springbok aul boat,fully open with 2 seats and a consul.the transom was torn off and replaced with laminated marine plywood ,then aul ,plus extra bracing was put inside. over a 1000,rivets were replaced.if i remember right the boat can handle over a ton of weight. would my 90 evinrude be ok for this boat.? 20 inch transom no hp rating , also wide.it had a 2000 60 yamaha on it last.

Nice boat, they were made by boatlocker, I have the kudu 22ft with a 200hp and a duiker 19ft with a 150hp, so a 90 will be purfect ... enjoy ...

thanks i thought so its more of a work style boat by the looks of it but it will do till i can find a nice vhull aul that not going to break the bank.

big question now will be props.will try 19p,any thoughts?being aul. i would quess its lighter than my glss boat.21p?

tryed 19 p vortex prop. on plane 3/4 boat length. rpm 6500 , speed i would guess 45 plus. im thinking 21 stainless. this scow flies. my buddy has a 17 foot spectrum with a 70 nissian (20 over rating) and the guys said the old ripper would smoke him severly, his top end is around 37 mph. not to be out done the springbok is 40 over rated but has had a major refit of the transom plus additional aul. braces installed. i know for a fact this old scow has carried over 1 1/2 tons of camp building material at one time. if you are to use the coast gaurd cal. this boat should be rated for 120hp.the only reason i can think it was rated at 50 was because it was intended for commercial fishing.
