Hey, new here. I just put my 1974 Rude 9.9 back together with new water pump. I haven't touched it in bout 10 yrs and am rusty and having trouble remembering all the "stuff". Got it to run. The only place water pumps out/thru is the small hose that comes off motor via a "L" shaped fitting and out the back of the upper housing. I recall water also coming out the larger hole in the center of the long "mid" housing. That is NOT happening. It appears nothing is coming out there, not even any sign of exhaust or pressure. Again, only thru the small hose shooting down from the "upper" housing. Any thoughts on what I'm looking at here? Is it pumping properly? I did not let it run long until I'm sure it is pumping Ok. Do I need to check thermostat(s)? If so, where is it(are they)? Thanx for whatever help you guys can give me. Would like to get out on the Delaware River. Thanx again, Steve

If it is coming out of the hose then you are fine. It might only come out of your midsection when you are on the water and have back pressure to the engine. Put your fingers on the top of the head and feel how hot it gets. If you can't hold your fingers there for at least eight seconds or so without losing your fingerprints then it is overheating. If it is coming out of the hose (telltale) well I wouldn't worry as long it isn't overheating.

Thanx Fireman57, I'll let it run a while and check temp. God bless and if you are a fireman, God Bless x2. I have family that were firefighters - a Chief andCapt in Jersey in the 50's and 60's. Later, Steve
