My buddy has an achilles rib and he needs to get the numbers off teh side to register it in a new state. As the old rubber decals are peeled back it seems to be taking some of the orange from teh tube with it. We use a hair drier and it didn't seem to ease things much. Does it matter that it is peeling some of teh tube off that much? Is there some kind of chemical we can safely use on the tube to remove the letters?

Re: removing old registration numbers

I would recommend using a sandpaper sponge, soap and water. That is what I used to take off painted numbers from our hypalon boat. It takes some elbow grease but looks great when finished. I was tempted to use lighter fluid or 409 but that will make the surface sticky "forever".

I used to live in Bellingham, Lake Whatcom area 1995-2000.
