Motors sounds like in Nuetral when turning Left or Right

When I steer right or Left my Motor sounds like it goes into Nuetral and then it's ok.<br /><br />Any Help?<br /><br />It is a Mercury 50HP outboard motor mounted on a 24ft. Pontoon Boat

Welcome to Iboats Zetrox..<br />It sounds like prop blowout..or the hub could be slipping.<br />I'm sure one of the prop gurus will respond soon.

Yes, the prop is venting in the turns...not uncommon, and may be an indication of several things, #1 being a worn out prop..it may look OK, but the cup has been worn down to the point it's starting to slip.<br />The engine may possibly be mounted too high for the prop that's on it, and this leads back to #1.<br />You may have too much weight up front and it's lifting the stern of the boat causing some venting.<br />Does this rig have quite a bit of time on it??? tell us what model and size of prop you have.
