I was just curious if you still need a VHF Licence in Canada, or has that law been dropped. Looking at buying one, just wondering if I need to take a course or not. Thanks for the help

Belchy

Re: Licence for VHF in Canada

Belchy...there were 2 licenses required, one was for the radio itself which used cost around $30 a year from the Coast Guard and then there was the operator license for yourself which didn't cost anything and was issued for lifetime. They have stopped the radio license (as long as you only use the radio in Canada) but as far as I know you are still supposed to have the operator license. CPS (Cdn Power Squadron) teaches the course.
