1987 evinrude vro bulb empties runs great once started slow down to idle and it dies wont start up until you turn primer solenoid handle all the way up then back down again. even then you have to throw it in gear to keep running.

Does the primer solenoid work when you push the key in?

The solonoid is easy enough to ckeck. Does it "click" when you push the key in?
