Default 4.3 liter marine engine

I am looking to buy a i/o boat for my first boat i have found one cheap($1000.00) but the engine is apart. It froze and busted . person who has the boat bought another 4.3 liter and took it to a gm dealer and they tore it down and its apart. my question is will a auto engine with marine componets fit in this boat. Will a 3.0 liter marine engine fit the boat. Thanks for you time Larry Choate

The engine block is the same as long as you build it up with all marine parts including the brass freeze plugs. If a 4.3L came out then I would stay with 4.3L, the 3.0L will probably have a different mount setup than the 4.3L and you probably do not want to go there. Just build the automotive block with marine parts.
