Hello, bay be looking to buy a 84 20ft walkaround grady,is there any know flaws,of that year, and any thing that i should look for, motor is uninportant ,only the hull Thanks Jd
take it for a spin. it's before the sv2 hull, and some believe grady wasn't the great ride it is now. other than that, look for the normal things- soft spots, rot, etc. if maintained, the hull should giv e you no problems.
I own a 1984 Grady 204...second owner, she has been well taken care of. Would definetly recommend this tyoe of boat. I use her mostly for fishing in the San Fransisco Bay, and offshore to the Cordell Banks. She keeps me dry, she fast(50mph) and I have plety of room to walk around the cuddy to figt fish. Powered with a Johnson 200hp
its in ohio did not go with the 84 went witha 1987 23 gulfstreem with a 460 ford 345 hours wish it was a mercruser, any way nothing like a fresh water boat
I've got a 83 20' walk thru that I've had about 5 years. Apparently mine had seen some blue water. The transom is good but watch for soft spots. I replaced a deck section about 36"x 60" and found stringers pretty messed up. Although everything is nice and firm now, it was alot of work. It has a 94 225 yamaha and really does a good job. Like we say, "It's a Grady"
Contray to popular opinion sweet water is far worst for rot than saltwater. Saltwater tends to pickle and preserve where as freshwater just sits and rots. I'd take a saltwater boat over the sweet boat anyday.
