We've got a two story home about 2800 sf. One furnace with a thermostat upstairs and one downstairs controlled with an hvac zone control unit. We've been having problems with the heater coming on, we've got a one year home warrenty so we called that company. The contractor came out and told us the zone control unit was bad. It doesn't fall under the home warrenty and this guy doesn't replace them because he won't garuntee them. He told me the cost of the zone control was $500 to $600. I got on the internet and found the 2 zone models for less than $150. They look fairly strait forward to replace as long as you keep track of the wires. Anyone with any experience out there? If I do buy one and do it myself any recomendations as to what brand and where I should look? Any info/advice would be appreciated. Thanks
