Default 99' Capri 1750 tachometer / fuel gauge issues

Just got my new, to me, boat out today and noticed the following things:The tachometer jumps around. Its not dead and sometimes I think it pretty close to correct but it would sometimes be between 5k and 6k when we were just doing 5-10mph. Sometimes I could toggle the bilge pump on and off and the tach would partially or mostly recover and then work for a while but never 100% of the time. The fuel gauge worked fine when we were filling up the tank as I watched it go from 1/4 to 3/4 during our stop at the gas station. While under way the fuel gauge just continued to jump between maxed out and 3/4 or as the fuel level started going down it would jump between 1/2 and full. Now while sitting in the driveway the fuel gauge reads solid between 1/2 and 3/4.All of the other gauges seem to operate good and appear stable during operation.Any ideas?thanx, jeff

Hey Jeff. Fuel gauge is going to bounce quite a bit depending on if you are throttling up or down, on plane or coming onto plane. Mine does the same thing. If I am going steady on plane and not taking on rough water the fuel gauge stays somewhat fixed but does move some. I have a 2001 Capri 185.

As for the Tach, I had the same problem one time and was concerned. I checked my wiring and everything seemed to be in line. Then the problem simply stopped and I have not had it reoccur.

I have the same problem with my tach, same boat same year. My tach is stuck at about 1,500R.P.M. I never did find the problem. Bad tach maybe.
