Default 94 Bayliner Reflexx Plane Problem???

I bought a '94 Bayliner Reflexx last summer with a merc sportjet 90. It takes about 10 seconds to plane out with 2 people in it. If I have 4 people, it could take 30 seconds or more. Once it planes, the top speed is around 30- 35 mph. Does this sound normal, and if not, what could possibly be the problem? Thanks, seth

Trim it all the way down when you hit the gas then trim it up as you gain speed. Next check your rpm's with what Merc says it's suppose to get. Is the bottom clean? Prop in good shape? Speedo correct?

Well its a jet boat, but I never had the impeller checked, which I was thinking could possibly be the problem. I believe the speedo is correct.

Jet propelled? Disregard my post thanks The impeller would be the logical thing to check first. Can you trim the nozzle? If you can the same rules apply. Other than those things there, unless something is binding up, you're going to have to look at the engine. A tune up and compression test is a good start.I think that boat should get on plane faster than it does.

Oh, I see the nozzle provides steering... I'll have to check the nozzle when I get home

No there is no trim tabs. Its a small 14 ft. boat. I guess I'll have to take it in for a tune up

Sounds like it. The right shop will have some idea of what performance to expect. It also helps to keep all the weight in the boat further forward.

All,I have this same boat and I get the same results related to both plane, and top speed. I would assume that this boat simeply tops out at about 35 MPH.My issue is with cold starts. I have a new stater, but cant seem to get it started. It has been sitting for over a year. It's my guess that it is related to the fuel, which I did not add stablizer to before storing in my garage for 12mos +.Question: Is there a way (other than having the fuel pumed) to get my fuel mixture stabilized in order to get the boat started?
