I bought a '94 Bayliner Reflexx last summer with a merc sportjet 90. It takes about 10 seconds to plane out with 2 people in it. If I have 4 people, it could take 30 seconds or more. Once it planes, the top speed is around 30- 35 mph. Does this sound normal, and if not, what could possibly be the problem? Thanks, seth
Trim it all the way down when you hit the gas then trim it up as you gain speed. Next check your rpm's with what Merc says it's suppose to get. Is the bottom clean? Prop in good shape? Speedo correct?
Jet propelled? Disregard my post thanks The impeller would be the logical thing to check first. Can you trim the nozzle? If you can the same rules apply. Other than those things there, unless something is binding up, you're going to have to look at the engine. A tune up and compression test is a good start.I think that boat should get on plane faster than it does.
I have the same boat with the same results. It must be just the boat. Mine just died on the water turns over but doesn't fire changed spark plugs no luck. Help
All,I have this same boat and I get the same results related to both plane, and top speed. I would assume that this boat simeply tops out at about 35 MPH.My issue is with cold starts. I have a new stater, but cant seem to get it started. It has been sitting for over a year. It's my guess that it is related to the fuel, which I did not add stablizer to before storing in my garage for 12mos +.Question: Is there a way (other than having the fuel pumed) to get my fuel mixture stabilized in order to get the boat started?
