Default Aluminum Deep Vee Boat w/Mercury 115HP EFI 4-Stroke - What Prop Do you Have?

Hey All,I was hoping to find some other people with Aluminum Deep Vee Boat's that have the Mercury 115HP EFI 4-stroke, and find out what prop they have (Brand, Size, Material, etc), and what Results they get (Speed, Holeshot, RPM, etc).Currently I have a 2006 Lowe Fish & Ski 17' with a 2006 Mercury 115HP EFI 4-stroke.It came with a 19 Pitch Aluminum Prop. Which on a fully loaded boat (4-people & fishing gear) would run 40 MPH @ 5200 RPM.I Tried a Mercury Vengeance 18 Pitch Stainless Steel Prop. Which on a fully loaded boat (4-people & Fishing gear) would run 38-40 MPH @ 5400 RPMI then Tried a 17 Pitch Aluminum Prop. Which on a fully loaded boat (4-people & Fishing Gear) runs 42MPH & 5500 RPM.The 17P Prop was the only prop that will plane with 4-people behind the windshield.I also had the engine raised up 1 hole on the transom, which gave me a little better holeshot, and about 50RPM more. The Redline is 6000RPM, but it doesn't seam like I can get the engine to tach out to 6000RPM, and I am thinking if I go any lower in pitch I am going to start loosing Top end.The 18p Prop was the fastest when runing light (2-people light gear), which was 48MPH @ 5500RPMThanks,-TheChad

Sounds like I would go with a good 17 pitch stainless prop. It would suck not to be able to plane out with 4 people sitting behind the windshield. I have a 2002 Starcraft 170 LE with a 115 merc 2-stroke with a 20 pitch laser 2 prop and this thing will shoot out of the hole with 6 people behind the windshield. My boat is comparible in size and weight.Top end is 46mph with 2 people in the boat and turning max rpm.Just remember my motor is a 2 stroke and has a max rpm of 5250. I traded that engine in for a 90 hp merc 2 stroke because I didn't like the 2+2 idle system that merc uses on there 115 and 125 2 stroke classics. By the way the 90hp will shoot out of the hole just as fast as the 115 did and I only lost 2mph top end. And this is running the same prop as the 115. Good Luck

I probably should of posted this here originally....very close to the same setup and disappointed as well as how the motor and prop were setup.Bought a Lund 1700 Fisherman late last fall with a 115 HP 4 Stroke Mercury. Just getting through the breakin period and starting to really see what the engine has. Right now I am not impressed as max RPM's are about 4800 and max MPH is about 36-37. Pitch on the standard Black Max prop that came with it is a 19. I called Lund Engineering for prop recomendations and they indicated that I should ensure the engine is mounted in the second hole so that the cavitation plate is equal or above the bottom of the hull. I took a look at the motor and currently it is about an inch or so below the hull and in the first hole. They also indicated I should upgrade to a Vengeance 18 pitch stainless steel prop. They indicated top speed with this config should be 41 - 46 MPH.Boat will be used as a fish boat mostly while pulling a tube once in a while. I would prefer to have a solid top end speed as we do hit some big lakes in Canada when we go up there that I want to be able to get across quickly but also want a decent hole shot.Thoughts? Suggestions? Info?Spencer

I've checked with Merc and the 2 props recommended for both rigs is either a 17P Trophy or a 17P Vengeance, then adjust engine heigth as needed to get max performance...The Trophy is of course a 4-bld, but I think they are saying bow-lift is needed and that would be why they recommend that. If we can get the bow up and free, it reduces drag creating more speed/RPM..the PVS holes allow adjustment for hole-shot.Now, with that being said, I'm not saying go buy one of those props....the Vengeance is just a entry-level SS prop, the Trophy has alot more high-tech features, and some lift is one of them. There are many props out there that will provide simular/ better/ worse performance, and finding the best prop for a 4-stroke has proven to be tough due to power-band differences....
