I recently purchased an '05 BF40 and having problems with it. As I throttle back to idle (but keeping it in gear) when the throttle is completely down, I get some rattling from the clutch for about 5 or 6 seconds before it smooths out and the noise quits. Several dealers attempt to explain this as 'normal' noise and are calling it 'slop in the clutch dogs'. I owned a '01 of the same motor and never had this problem. Anyone know if this is true (and normal) or are they trying to dodge the problem?
