I just acquired an '86 Capri 2150 5.0 OMC. I have not picked it up yet but I know I will want a bimini top for it.

I have searched the forums a bit and it would seem that a 54" height and a 6' length is commonly recommended but one critical dimension eludes me. The hull width.

If anyone can help out with that I would appreciate it.

This is my first, but not the last post...for sure...

Thanks in advance
Carl

The width that it asks for for the bimini is the width that you will mount the brackets on the sides of the boat. Not the total width of the hull(or Beam)..for that boat i would guess that the 73 to 78 wide would work but i would measure to make sure..
The height is from the same mounting points too..

BTW..Welcome aboard Carl :D

Go to overton's website and they detail where to measure. as for the width, I'd measure the width from window to window at the side near the passenger and driver's seat...right at the back of the window where it ends.
i'd agree on the 73 to 78. I just put one one my 4winns today and it was 77 inches wide.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I should wait until I pick her up and measure...

I'll get to test her out right away. I am picking her up back "home" in Rochester, NY and am staying for a week. My parents live about 3 miles from a boat launch into Irondequoidt bay.

The boat is running and "sea worthy" with a few known glitches mainly with the tilt mechanism.

I will plan to do a minor tuneup immediately- cap/rotor/points/condensor/plugs, oil change, and at least make sure the outdrive gear oils are up to level. I will plan to do a more thorough shakeout when I get home.

I feel like a kid at Xmas...
