For those that buy a manual after the fact, heres a pic of where the pin goes in the lower. You can see that if you pull the water pump body plate, you might be able to take the magnet and wiggle it around to get the pin back in. The shift rod coupler goes around a pin ((shift yoke) and if it separates, its a witch to get back in place. This is only as a last ditch attempt, and if it doesn't work, all this has to come out anyway. BUT...you need a new crush washer (you CANNOT reuse it), and a seal kit. Quicksilver P/N F523961 (crush washer), and Quicksilver P/N FK1063-2 (seal kit). Good luck<br />
