I have a 1991 Force and cylinder 3 has 30 lbs. lower compression than the rest of the cylinders which I believe is due to stuck rings. Wil soaking the cylinders with with head off with Seafoam cure the problem?? I think this is the reason the boat won't run below 600 rpms which I believe is supposed to be the idle speed.

does anyone know what is underneath the tranfer port covers on the side of the cylinders?? Someone told me I would be able to see the piston rings through them. Is this true??

You can see part of the rings from there, maybe an inch or so...

I just tore down my 1993 70hp, not too hard but it would be kind of a kicker to have to do it for a stuck ring.

K

Try the seafoam first. My 1986 85hp had the same problem just not as bad (20 lbs diff). I just pulled the plugs, gave it a good spraying, let it sit overnight and then went to the lake the next day and finished using the can of seafoam while running. Got back home, checked comp and all three were within 2 lbs of each other.
