I received really great advice on my last problem via this web site. I thought someone may help with this one; when i put the engine into forward it thunks fairly hard ..i was looking for a smoother transition between neutral and forward? I thought i may be idling to high when it "thunks" into gear?? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. It is a 1978 Chrysler 115 hp. Thanks.

RPMs should be low as possible during shifting. Preferably around 700 rpms. When shifting the movement should be swift and not slow. At low rpms and a quick shove to forward and the transition should be smoother.
