We pulled the cover on my 1990 150HP Force this past weekend and noticed glue marks that probably held some sort of sound proofing material. Did these motors have such materials? How much does it cut the engine noise? Would it be worth it to replace it and if so with what? Bill Mc

Re: Sound proofing

You might want to contact franzmarine.com. He's one of The ChryslerCrew.I know he makes precut insulation pieces for Chrysler. Around $35 for all 3 of them. I'm almost positive Force had it too.

That exactly what it was. Foam rubber glued to the inside of the cowl. I once had a 150 also and ended up taking them off and never replacing them. Ran it for years like that until I just replaced with a merc.

Scotiany, Franz's address is: franzmarine@aol.com

I rode in a Shallow V Conqueror with a 140 Hp powerhead with this insulation and I can assure Macattack that the motor sounded like a four stroke.

I am looking forward to doing the same for my 20 Hp that after a while leaves you deaf!
