To Much Fuel

I recently purchased a 1993 pontoon boat with a 1993 70hp force engine. The previous owner said that the last time he ran it, it ran rough.

I could only keep the engine running at over 1,000 rpm with partial trottle baffle, dies in idle position. To much fuel.

Pulling the fuel pump off, i found that there were several holes in the diaphram. I replace the complete fuel pump and gasket and installed a complete new carburateor. Still having same problem...to much fuel at idle. I can take the recirculation hose off from the top of the reed block and it runs a little better for a while.

I have pulled the recirculation block off and have inspected the reeds, no problem found.

Can fuel be circulating into the engine for another source? Vaccum/
check valve?

Need some ideas?????

Yes, the puddle valve or whatever Force called it. A plugged up puddle valve will cause no end of grief. Fairly simple to clean though.
