Mine did the samething and i replaced a presure check valve. Some will tell you that you have to replace seals but the guy at the marina said that this check valve is the part that always is the problem. Worked for me!!1

I think you can buy them right here on Iboats but it will be cheaper to go down to your neighborhood Napa dealer. This part is expensive @ $58. It is a small little check valve held in by an c-clip. Hope that helps, Chris

I am having the same problem with my 1989 Force 125. The power trim will go up and drift down on it's own.
Is the check valve in the pump unit. I did see a c-clip on the pump body. If I remove it does the check valve come right out?

John,
That part # is from force.

Paxton,
Yes, the c-clip is on the pump unit. Once you take the clip out the check valve will come out. I pushed down on the motor and the valve slid out. You need to scrape the paint out and then put the new one in. The check valve is the same on both ends. Hope this helps!!
Chris

Re: tilt and trim 1990 120 HP Force

I have found that going through these postings, that I am experiencing several problems that are listed here. I hadn't run the motor much for about 5 years. The impeller had gotten stiff and would not pump water, so I had to replace it and I also had gasoline shooting out the sides of the carb. I just figured that some gaskets had dried out. After running it for a while that problem went away. I ended up putting Sea Form in my gas to get rid of the varnish. My idle is better and the rpm's picked up on W.O.T. If I can get the trim to stay up I will be happy. Thanks for the help.
