1984 force 85 horse pitch and timing

i have a 1984 bayliner bass boat whats the best pitch for this setup performance wise and is the rod going from the top of the motor behind the carbs down the throtle linkage to a bolt resting on the side of the motor if so do you adjust it with that bolt or the plastic adjuster at the top of the rod<br /><br /> thanks
