How can I reconnect my shift rod to my lower unit

I bought a replacement lower unit today, its seems good but the shift rod aparently fell out during storage. ITs a lower unit off a 93' Force 150.<br /><br />Is there any way I can re-attach the shift rod to the shift pin myself?<br /><br />Thanks guys I'm slowing getting my boat working!

Sure, gonna need a manual and a few tool and do a partial tear down of the lower unit to get it all in there properly.<br /><br />Did someone remove the shift pivot screw? Will require tear down to repair.<br /><br />Or did someone just unscrew the shaft from the pivot?<br /><br />If so, you may be able to get it back in there without any tear down.<br /><br />If you tear it down, might as well replace the seals while you are at it.

i think the shift rod was just removed. What can i do to reattach<br /><br />thanks

I believe that one just screws into the shift arm pivot.<br />Don't know if you can get it lined up and screw it in or if you will have to disassemble.<br /><br />I would drain the oil, remove the waterpump, remove the gearcase cover, and see if you can look inside and see the shift arm pivot. Maybe you can get a coat hanger wire in there to move it into position so you can screw the shift rod in.<br /><br />Let us know what you find and if it works.

I got it! Removing the waterpump housing gave me easy access to the thing the shift rod screws into. A very easy task with a flash light, thank god I thought I would have to spend another chunk of cash to dissasmble.
