Default 98 Honda 90HP 20' Pontoon PROP ISSUES

Hello. . . .I am helping this old retired guy that just bought a new to him pontoon boat. The engine on it is a 1998 Honda 90HP, and the pontoon boat is 20' long. The prop that wa son the boat when he bought it is chewed up and he wants to replace it, and use it as a back up.The numbers on the prop are: D3X13 25X17R What I need ot know, is this the right prop or close to what he should by. . . . He has not taken it out yet as the weather is still very very cold, so I am not sure what the WOT rpms is, but figured someone may know the standard for the boat / motor combination.I have received so much help on my evin 90hp via these forums, I told him I would post the info, and see if you guys could give him / us some guidance. I would hate for him to buy the wrong prop, as I am not sure how intune the previous owner was as the motor was pinned severly UNDER trimed, and the prop was even gouged / skuffed inside the exaust bell around the nut. . . . amazes me how people do things like that.Thank you in advance for any info I can getHave a Great WeekendDave

Have him get the prop repaired. When he launches see how it runs. If issues post details and some expert will reply.

Well, I am no expert at reading the stamps on a prop but I am going to go out on a limb and say that's a 25" pitch prop as I don't see how that could be the diameter. If this is the case - and I hope I am corrected if I am wrong -that would seem way too coarse a prop. I ave a HOnda 90 on a 17' boat and a 21" prop is good for only light loads; it maxws out at 5400rpm. Considering how pontoon boats aren't great planers, if would imagine they would require finer pitcj props. Keep an eye out for top end rpm.

My guess would be that it's a 13.25 x 17 prop. I'd also guess that's probably a little too high a pitch for most pontoon boats. If the prop is at all usable, I'd try one run with that prop and then decide what size replacement to buy.

Well I would GUESS 13 1/4 pith 17 " prop as well, but was hoping one of the exprts or pontoon owners with like engine would tune in on this . .. .. HMMMMMThe prop is pretty chewed up, and I just didn't want the o'le boy to have to buy the wrong prop, and thought there would be a standard calculation for a honda 90 on a pontoon as there are a lot of them sold with that motor installed.Still hopeing for more info, and thanks in adance for any help . . . . .Dave
