My service manual calls for "sealant" on the threads of the lower unit and anti-seize on the driveshaft splines. Can I use an RTV like "sealant" and any anti-seize or are there specific kinds for marine use? Thanks in advance!

Just use anti sieze you get at an auto parts store. It is under two bucks a tube. Then for the threads use either medium strength locktight (blue) or permatex on the threads. The old chrysler numbers for sealents and antisieze dont exist anymore. I recommend permatex 2 because it is non hardening.

Just use a thin film of antiseeze on your splines. If you use too much, it will trap the air in the spline bores and not allow the shaft to fully enter the hole. This creates a "hydraulic lock" in the hole and places high loads at the shaft ends.
