85 HP 1988 Charging Voltage

I have a 1988 85hp Force. I have just added some gauges this year and am concerned about the voltage when the engine is running. When the key is first turned on it reads about 12.5v which tells me the volt gauge is reading correctly. When it is running it reads 16v. this seems a little high to me. Is this normal?

That is a little high, Scott, but I don't think it is too high. Most charging systems charge at 14 to 16 volts.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

Sounds pretty normal. I doubt your force has a voltage regulator. When it gets above 17 volts you should start worrying.
