Can I get some answers on why my motor got hot and shutdown. It's obviously a cooling issue. How much water should come out of the 2 pee holes? With the motor getting this hot did it damage the motor. If it's the water pump is it fairly simple to repair? Is there blockage in the engine block. :confused:

The impeller or the thermostat probably went out. To fix or check either one of these the lower unit will need to come off. I hate to sound like a preacher but the job is a lot easier with the manual. You can probably get a manual here or at a local marina. To find out if it did serious damage you will need to do a compression test. You can buy one of these at sears for 25 bucks. If compression is over 100 and similar on all cylinders it probably isnt too bad. I am guessing water impeller and the cost for one of those is around 14 bucks. Here again the manual makes it a lot easier to do this.
