1989 Force - melted wires

What might cause the kill switch wires to partially melt up near the power pack at the engine? (this is a 125 hp) Thanks!!

Well the obvious answer is it got too hot! when is the last time you changed the water pump?

Thanks for the response. The water pump was replaced last week by a boat mechanic. Quick Clean was added to the fuel mix. Would that make it run too hot?
