I've got a '73 Chrysler 35 hp that runs great but when i shut it down it makes this awful oil slick in the water. Is this normal for this old motor? Is there somthing i can do? I don't want to pollute the lake. Thanks-Tad

Re: Oil slick

Does it smell like gas?<br />Is it coming from the exhaust?

Re: Oil slick

Don't know your Chrysler but I'll bet if you pull the plugs they will be black (running a bit rich). It is common for engines to accumulate a bit of oil in a bunch of places - after all you are mixing oil with the fuel. Not all of it is burned (perhaps more so with an older engine) and will result in that oil rainbow that you see. A single drop of oil will create a bigget "slick" that you might think.
