Running outboard till out of fuel?

I searched the archives but couldn't find an answer to this. Does it hurt a single cylinder Wards/Clinton 1977 7.5 hp K751 if you turn off gas and run engine till it's out of gas? That's what I used to do with my Honda and Yamaha 4 strokes.

It should be just fine. I believe the concerns of this practice are with multi-cylinder, multi-carbed engines.

That's fine. It'll help prevent varnishing and gas won't leak out if you lay it down. There's usually residual oil leftover inside the motor anyhow. Make sure you're using a chainsaw/lawnmower 2-stroke lube.
