Recently purchased a 2006 model Yamaha 15hp four stroke. Trolls a lot faster (> 1 mph)compared with our older 2-stroke Merc. Is there any way to slow the trolling speed down, without stalling the engine? I only see two adjustment screws, one holding a gold-colored rod that slides, and another screw on the upper left side with a spring on it. Any help is greatly appreciated! Mike

Re: Yamaha 15hp four stroke trolling speed

Thanks Rodbolt, I'll have to get the rpm's checked out at a service center. Trolls too fast for my liking and I really don't care to blindly tweak any carb adjustment screws to try and slow it down. I was hoping that it just needed more "break-in" time, but I really don't believe anything will magically change for the better. (Almost wish for my old two-stroke back!) Thanks again.

they do idle a bit fast, they dont idle down much lower reliably. you may try a smaller prop.
